One blind, two settings — the reason day & night blinds suit a room that changes use through the day.
A day & night blind (you may also hear zebra or vision blind) runs two layers of banded fabric on one tube. Roll a little and the sheer bands line up with the sheer bands, and you get a soft, filtered view. Roll a little more and the solid bands close over the gaps, and the room dims down without you losing the blind altogether.
It suits a window whose job changes through the day. A study that needs to see the garden at eleven and needs privacy from the neighbour's driveway at seven. A guest room that should not feel like a cave. A kitchen window over the sink where you want light without the low western sun in your eyes.
They are not blockout blinds, and we will not pretend otherwise — closed, they dim a room convincingly but light still finds the band joins. Where sleep is the point, a blockout roller is the honest specification.
Practical notes
- Chain, cordless or motorised operation.
- Neutral band colours that read as one fabric from across the room.
- Good on kitchen, study and guest-room glass; not a substitute for blockout in a main bedroom.
- Cassette headbox available where you want the roll hidden.
